There’s No I in Team

In school, I heard, “There’s no I in team.”
It was meant to instill cooperation, and compromise. For me, all it ever really did was trigger an instinctive urge to find the nearest exit.

A Solo Mission

Then I picked up a camera, and my world changed. One frame at a time. Just me. My vision. No committees. For a time, this was the way.

Finding My People

We like to tell stories of solo success. In reality, no one gets there alone. Every success, every snapshot, happens because of the people who stand with you.
When I began collaborating with stylists, makeup artists, and others in the creative field, something unexpected occurred. My work improved dramatically. Their perspectives, different from my own, didn’t dilute my vision. They broadened it.
Partnerships aren’t a burden. Our wins are tied to the company we keep. Greater success comes to those who nurture collaboration and shared purpose. There’s real reward in lifting up your collaborators—just as they lift you. Reducing those relationships to transactions does a disservice to everyone involved.

Your Vision, Your Voice, Your Truth

Painters stretch their own canvas. Gamers assemble and customize their gaming rigs. Jedi build their own lightsabers. When you create something from scratch, you build a personal connection to that item and it becomes a part of you. Likewise, when you work alongside a team that shares your vision, you create something uniquely yours.
